What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a semi permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure. A machine and fine needle are used to implant the pigment into the upper dermis of the skin within the vermilion border. The way in which I implant the pigment creates little pixels. During the appt I layer these pixels to create a lip blush effect. Lip blush can be tailored to be as soft or as defined as the client would like. With a full lip colour or ombre effect where the edges of the lip are more defined and then it softens to the middle of the lip. If you have a favourite lipstick or lip liner you can take it to your appt and I will colour match as closely as possible while taking into consideration your skin and hair tone.
Am I a candidate for lip blush?
Please read the FAQs and Eligibility page on the website to make sure you are a good candidate for cosmetic tattoos. Lip blush is suitable for those with a Fitzpatrick skin type 1 to 3. For those that would like more definition and symmetry or more colour to their lips. Lip blush can be customised to be as sheer or opaque as you like.
What happens during the procedure?
After reading all the information provided to you on this website, you can book your appt online. The appt will be pencilled in and a consult form will be sent to you. Once this has been filled out and I have checked you are a suitable candidate the appt will be confirmed. If there are any issues with the form I will be in touch with you. You will then follow the pre care instructions on the lead up to your appt. On the day we will go over your consult form and discuss what you would like to achieve and any concerns or queries. Once you are happy that you are fully informed I will then map a shape of your lips staying within the vermilion border. We will work together until you are happy. I will then choose a custom pigment colour that goes with your skin and hair tone and colour match to a product you’ve taken in as much as possible. Once decided we will then begin tattooing. Firstly I will tattoo the outline of the shape and then start the shading. Once I have finished my first pass I can then apply numbing cream, although many clients are comfortable enough without the numbing cream. I will then layer the pixels and shading until we have achieved the desired result.
Pre Care, Healing and Post Care.
Please refer to the Pre Care, Healing and Post Care instructions here.
Maintenance and Touch Ups.
Some clients may need a Perfection Visit 8 - 12 weeks from their initial appt to achieve the desired results. After that all cosmetic tattoos need to be touched up anywhere between 1 - 5 years. On average I have found that the average time frame is the 3 year mark. Tattoos are ready to be touched up when they have faded at least 50%.
