LIP TATTOO ELIGIBILITY CHECK

Please make sure that you read all questions below to ensure you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattoos and are fully informed before your appointment. I would hate for you to turn up on the day and have to be turned away. Any questions or queries that are not answered on this page, please get in touch and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Are you over 18?

In Australia you must be 18 years or older to have cosmetic tattoos. ID may be requested for anyone that looks under the age of 18.

Are you pregnant and/or breastfeeding?

You can not have cosmetic tattoo while pregnant and I recommend waiting 12 months after having baby to allow your body and hormones to heal and balance. It is not recommended to have tattoos while breastfeeding due to the nature of the treatment and anaesthetic used. I recommend waiting till you have stopped breastfeeding as I have found that the pigment fades a lot faster while breastfeeding. If you are trying conceive, I recommend waiting till you have your baby, or to wait to start trying until all your tattoo appointments are completed.

Do you have previous lip tattoos done elsewhere?

I would need to see you for a separate consultation first to fully evaluate the situation. To let you know whether laser and/or chemical removal would be required first, options, expectations and a treatment plan. Touch up prices are for my existing clients only.

Do you get cosmetic injectables?

If you get either muscle relaxants or filler around the area that is to be tattooed e.g. lip filler, Botox/filler nose to mouth lines etc. You have to wait at least 2 weeks from your injectable appointment before you can get your tattoo done. Please speak to your injectable provider in regards to how long you have to wait after getting cosmetic tattoos done before booking in your injectable appt.

Do you have any medical conditions?

Please note any and all medical conditions you may have in the form sent to you. Majority of medical conditions are ok for treatment to go ahead, but some may need a medical certificate from your Doctor stating you are able to proceed.

Do you have cancer and/or going through chemotherapy?

If you have been diagnosed with cancer I would need a medical certificate from your Oncologist clearing you for the treatment. If you are currently going through chemotherapy, you would have to wait until treatment is completed before booking in your appointment.

Are you taking any medications and/or supplements?

Please note any and all medications on the form sent to you. The majority of medications and supplements are ok for treatment to go ahead, but some can be contraindications to cosmetic tattoos and brow styling. Other medications are ok to take but could require a medical certificate from your doctor. Any and all medications/supplements alter our skin and body, thats how they work, so they can alter how the lip tattoo heals.

Do you have any blood clotting conditions?

I will require a Medical Certificate from your doctor clearing you to have the treatment.

Do you bruise easily, bleed heavily?

This may affect your healed results. Please discuss with your doctor if you can take Arnica oral pills 24 hours leading up to your appointment.

Do you have HIV/AIDS?

I will require a Medical Certificate from your doctor clearing you to have the treatment.

Are you taking fish oil or NSAIDS?

Fish oils and NSAIDS thin the blood which causes more bleeding during your treatment. This causes the pigment to reject as I am trying to implant it and usually results in poor tattoo retention. If possible please stop taking them a MINIMUM of 7 days before your appointment. However NEVER stop taking a medication prescribed to you by your doctor e.g. ibuprofen, aspirin, warfarin etc without TALKING with them about it first. If you are unable to come off your medication, I will need a letter from your Doctor clearing you for treatment. You will also need to understand that we may not achieve optimum results and you may need more than 1 perfection visit to help tattoo retention.

Do you take Roaccutane, Retinol, Vitamin A or Retinol-A?

If you take Roaccutane, Retina, AHA, Glycolic, Doxycyclineskin or other similar medications, you will need to wait 12 months from your last tablet before getting a cosmetic tattoo or a brow wax. On the day of your appointment, I will need a doctors note to confirm you have been off the medication for at least 12 months and you are cleared for treatment.

Are you diabetic or have a autoimmune disorder?

Diabetics and those with autoimmune disorders may manifest poor wound healing, which makes the risk of infection higher and may cause poor tattoo retention. I recommend you consult with your doctor to make sure you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattoos and bring a medical certificate clearing you for treatment to your appointment.

Do you have any scars in the area that is to be tattooed?

It is recommended to wait at least 12 months from trauma before tattooing over a scar. Ideally the scar to be white and not pink. If concerned it is best to discuss with your doctor and get in touch with myself. Please note that scar tissue may not retain pigment.

Do you have any moles in the area that is to be tattooed?

I can not tattoo over moles. If you would like the mole removed first you will need to wait 12 months after removal before proceeding with your cosmetic tattoos treatment.

Are you taking HRT?

HRT treatment can cause the pigment to fade faster than normal. If you understand and happy to proceed we can go ahead with your appointment.

Do you have keloid scarring?

I will need a medical certificate from your Doctor clearing you for treatment.

Do you suffer from OCD?

Perfection is impossible for all treatments, I do my best to create as symmetrical and balanced a lip shape as possible. Working with your face and natural lip shape. I also try my best to create the lip colour you would love in coordination with your skin tone. However it may not be 100% the same. I recommend a separate consult.

Do you donate regularly?

You will be unable to donate for 6 months after your treatment.

Do you want to change the shape of your lips or correct asymmeytry?

The lip skin and facial skin are both very different. In texture, thickness and colour. This means that they both heal very differently too. That is why I am unable to make drastic changes to the lip shape, and can not tattoo out with the lip skin. I will always try my best to correct asymmetry, but there may be limitations and perfection is never possible.

Is your skin tone a Fitzpatrick 3 to 5?

Clients with a Fitzpatrick skin type 3 to 5 are at a higher risk of colour shifting, hyperpigmentation and uneven healing. I do not have enough experience and knowledge YET to service clients with these skin types. But it is 100% in my plans to partake in courses to be able to do so. If you are unsure what Fitzpatrick skin type you can click the link HERE.

Do you have an irregularities in the lip?

Irregularities may include, moles, freckles, scars etc. Make sure to mention these in your form and I may get you to send me a photo. I may need clearance from your Doctor before going ahead with the appointment.

Do you/have you suffered from cold sores?

There is a high risk of a cold sore outbreak if you have suffered from cold sores, no matter how long ago. Which can create scarring and alter healing. I advise that you talk to your Doctor beforehand. They will recommend what preventative medication to take before hand and for how long.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please find below my most commonly asked questions. If there are any questions you may have that are unanswered, please reach out to me.

Are you skin penetration approved?

Yes, the premise that I work from (Elite Nail Design & Beauty, Joondalup) is Skin Penetration approved.

What pigments do you use?

I use EU REACH compliant pigments. For lips I use the Evenflo Lip pigments - True Lip set.

I’m trying to call but no one is answering?

I am a one woman show. And as exciting as that is to enter this new chapter in my career, there is no receptionist, no manager. Just me. And I also have 2 little girls at home. If I am not answering the phone it means I am either busy attending to a client or busy with my girls. Please send me a message or an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Why don’t you work late nights or saturdays?

With 2 little girls it is just not feasible for me right now to work any more hours than what I am. As they get older I hope to expand on my days and hours. I understand that my days/times aren’t the most convenient, and I can’t tell you how appreciative I am that you make it work to see me. I promise it’s worth it!

What happens if you cancel my appointment?

In the event that I need to cancel your appointment, I will work with you to rebook you into a time and day that suits. I promise that I don’t cancel or reschedule my clients unless truly necessary.

Why don’t you touch up other peoples work?

Tattooing over someone else work and in some cases trying to correct it can be difficult and time consuming. It takes up as much time if not more than a fresh set of lips, hence why it is charged as a new set. A separate consult is always required so I can fully inform you of your options and expectations.

Why do I have to wait for my tattoos to fade at least 50% before my touch up?

Your skin, face and tattoos are my priority and my advice and recommendations are always in your best interest. The reason for allowing your tattoos to fade at least 50% before touch ups is to prevent over saturation of pigment. Imagine your tattoo like a glass of water, brows freshly done, the glass is full. Then over time the water starts to empty (aka pigment fading). If you come in for your touch up and the glass isn’t half empty, then when I do the touch up, the water will overflow out the glass, and if this is repeated the glass will never empty aka oversaturation of the pigment. This is when too much pigment has been implanted into the skin that it will never fade. I understand it’s frustrating waiting for them to fade and we all love how fresh tattoos make us look and feel. But I promise long term, this is for the best.

What does semi-permanent mean?

Semi-permanent means that it fades over time and can not be washed off. Depending on each client and many factors, cosmetic tattoos can take from 1 up to 10 years to fade. Although they will never fade completely and there will always be some pigment in the skin. The only way to remove cosmetic tattoos completely is via laser and/or chemical removal. I find that the majority of people need a touch up around the 2 - 3 year mark.
